Happy March! The spring is imminent (inasmuch as changes in the weather can ever be predictable with climate change)! And you know what else that means — time for my new Irish folk album!
Forfocséic, Vol. 3: Love & War is out now on Bandcamp; there are a few singles up on Spotify/Apple Music as well, with the full album dropping next Friday, March 10. I'm sure I say this every year, but I’m particularly proud of the production work I did on this one, thanks in no small part to the musical contributions of Jacqui Cheng (violin), Rose Drucker (violin), Paula Arzac (tin whistle), and Craig Wesley Divino (drums). In fact, this is the first one of these I’ve done with no synthesized instruments — it’s all human performances, all the time! And yes, that includes the epic 8-minute anti-war ballad closer with multiple string orchestrations. So please, check it out!
To celebrate the occasion — and St. Patrick’s Day more broadly — I’m also excited to announce that I’ll be playing at the Sam Adams Boston Brewery on Friday, March 17 from 2pm-4pm. Yes, I know it’s daytime, but hey, “Evacuation Day” is a “holiday” in this fine city, so what’s your excuse? (I’m hoping to book an evening show close to home as well; if you have any suggestions for bars nearby, hit me up!)
It would behoove me if I didn’t also mention that my indie rock band the Roland High Life is doing an all-ages show this Saturday, March 4 at the Midway Cafe in JP.
We’ll be in Allston later this month as well, at the infamous Silhouette Lounge:
If our Monday night show in Harvard Square this past week taught me anything, it’s that my band is really, really freakin’ good, and everyone who sees us digs it; but also I have no idea how to build an audience as an indie power-pop band full of late-30-somethings in 2023. Ah well.
Stay cool, stay warm, and hope to see y’all soon!
